Our History

East Laurel Water District was created on November 23rd 1965 by a petition to the Laurel County Fiscal Court to provide water service to the people in the proposed service area.  The petition was filed by R. Gay Blair asking for a water district to be established in which the court deemed reasonably necessary for the public health, convenience, fire protection and comfort of the residents within the area.

Today, East Laurel serves over 16,000 people with high quality water in Eastern Laurel County and Northwestern Clay County.  East Laurel purchases it's water from Wood Creek Water District.  Wood Creek also provides all administrative and maintenance labor for East Laurel.  East Laurel is governed by its own board of commissioners.  Below you can learn more on who manages and oversees East Laurel Water District.
